Program Studi Doktor Ilmu Kedokteran Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Syiah Kuala (PSDIK) didirikan pada tahun 2019 berdasarkan surat Keputusan Menteri Riset, Teknologi dan Pendidikan Tinggi Republik Indonesia Nomor : 312/KPT/I/2019 sebagai tanggapan terhadap kebutuhan akan tenaga Doktor Ilmu Kedokteran di Provinsi Aceh.
Saat ini PSDIK FK USK telah menjadi salah satu pilihan bagi calon mahasiswa baik dari dalam maupun luar Provinsi Aceh. Penerimaan mahasiswa angkatan pertama dilakukan pada tahun 2019 dengan jumlah mahasiswa yang di terima 5 orang. Saat ini, selain telah memiliki sarana prasaran ruang kelas, PSDIK FK USK juga telah memiliki lab terpadu di FK serta lab pendukung lain di fakultas lain dilingkungan USK.
